Book Cover Design: The Fall by Albert Camus

Artist's Description:

The Fall by Albert Camus follows the development of the Clamence, a lawyer residing in Amsterdam, who previously lived a very glamorous life in Paris. Clamence has an extremely inflated sense of self, which causes him to believe He is a great person. However, one night, when he watches a lady jump off the bridge and fails to act, his idealist image is shattered, and begins to crumble. Since this novel was published in the Post-Modern Period, and since Camus was an Absurdist Philosopher, I wanted the design to be shape focused. The curved lines represent Calmence's "Minds eye" which the image of the lady falling to her death haunts him. I chose to make the falling lady very abstract because The Fall is less about her death, but an illustration of how ordinary people fall out of grace, into evil.
